Frequently asked questions
How the directory works, listing and updating entries, data from the commercial register, and data protection.
Listing and visibility
Is listing a company on SwissYP really 100% free?
Yes. Listing and basic visibility are free, non-binding, require no credit card and have no hidden costs.
The goal is a complete and accessible directory of companies across the 26 Swiss cantons.
How do I list my company if it does not yet appear in the directory?
Go to the page Register your company. Enter the company name, its address in Switzerland, its trade and your contact details (phone, email, website).
A preview of the listing appears while you type. After submission, the details are checked before publication.
How long does it take for my new listing to appear on Google and SwissYP?
Once approved, the listing goes live on SwissYP immediately.
For Google, Bing and AI search engines, SwissYP sends IndexNow notifications and adds the listing to its XML sitemaps. How quickly it is indexed then depends on each search engine.
Commercial register and Zefix
Where does the company data on SwissYP come from?
SwissYP consolidates its data from public Swiss sources:
- the central company index (Zefix) of the Federal Commercial Registry Office;
- publications of the Swiss Official Gazette of Commerce (SOGC);
- public geodata;
- checked updates supplied by management and authorised representatives.
How do I update my company’s opening hours, phone number or address?
If your business is already listed, use the page Manage listing or the “Update” button on your listing.
Specify the details to change (opening hours, phone, address, website, description). Each request is checked before publication.
What do the notices “In liquidation” or “Deleted” mean?
These notices reflect the entries published in the commercial register.
When a company enters liquidation or is deleted from Zefix, SwissYP shows it on the listing to inform visitors.
Reviews and recommendations
How do reviews work on SwissYP?
Any customer of a professional can leave a review: a rating from 1 to 5, a title and a comment.
Each review goes through spam filtering and may be moderated to limit misleading content.
Can I, as a manager, report a disputed or defamatory review?
Yes. Any defamatory or offensive statement, or any statement not based on a real experience, can be reported directly on the listing or via the contact form.
Reviews that breach the publication rules are removed.
Data protection (revFADP)
Does SwissYP comply with the revised Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP)?
SwissYP applies the principles of the Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP), in force since 1 September 2023.
The directory mainly processes professional data from public sources. The details of data processing, including audience measurement and advertising tools, are set out in the privacy policy.
How do I exercise my rights of access, rectification or deletion?
Every person has a right of access to, and rectification of, the data concerning them.
Use the contact form with the subject “Personal data / rights under the revFADP”, or write to contact@swissyp.com.
Practical tools
How do I save a company’s contact details to my smartphone (vCard)?
Every listing offers an export in vCard format (.vcf).
Click “vCard” or scan the QR code: the contact is saved in the address book of your iPhone, Android device or Outlook. From your favourites, you can also export several contacts in a single file.
How does route planning with SBB (Swiss Federal Railways) and GPS work?
Every listing with an address offers:
- SBB: a link to the SBB timetable with the destination pre-filled;
- Route: opening the address in Google Maps for navigation.
List it for free or update an existing listing.
